The Boston Red Sox are a professional baseball team from Boston, Massachusetts. The Red Sox are part of Major League Baseball’s American League Eastern Division. The Red Sox have played at home at the infamous Fenway Park in Boston since 1912. The Red Sox were founded in 1901 as one the American League's eight charter franchises. They were a fierce team in the new league, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first World Series game in 1903.
